Italian Reds and Varietals
Frescobaldi, Remole, Tuscany ’08 - Impressive, clean edged aromas of ripe
fruit. Appealing, lean and crisp, delicious mid-palate suppleness & succulent fruit.
Full-flavored finish lingers, great subtlety.
Fuedo Arancio, Nero D’Avola, Sicily, ‘09 - An indigenous Sicilian variety
with a huge reputation. First cultivated only in the area of Siracusa, but has since
spread all over Sicily. A red wine with a unique fruity character. Hints of red berries
and cranberry. It has a deep red colour with a soft and delicate structure.
Straccali, Chianti Classico, Tuscany, ’09 - Ruby red, intense and
persistent violet notes mingle with cherry. Well structured with a firm and polished
finish. Spicy! A wonderful, classic, Italian chianti.
Sartori, Pinot Noir, Provincia di Pavia, ’07 - Bright ruby with violet
reflexions, alluring bouquet of black cherry jam, chocolate, and vanilla. Elegant
roundness enhanced by good acidity. Light almond finish.
Tenuta Sete Ponte, Crognolo, Toscana ’08 - This refined, stylish blend of
Sangiovese and Merlot combines fruit lushness and concentration with a palate of
ripe cherries, black fruit, leather and vanilla repeated in the aromas. Firm, elegant
tannins and integrated oak end in a balanced finish. A wonderful wine.
Travaglini Gattinara, Piedmont ’05 - Rare and supple Nebbiola grapes.
Nebbiola means fog, the extremely low yielding vines bear fruit slowly with wonderful
aromas of violets and roses. A Wood Fire favorite.
Sparkling Wines
D’arrigo Moscato D’ Asti ‘10 Rasperry and cherry flavors with a rich mid-palate
and a long complex finish. Blending sweetness with acidity.
Vietti, Moscato di’ Asti, Italy ’09 - Aromatic, semi-sparkling wine with a mild
level of sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity. Full, lush, and delicious. For a toast,
a celebration, a moment: Magnifico!
Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, Champagne Brut, Mixed Vintage.
France - (voov clee koh) An interesting tale: the young couple marries, inherit his
father’s winery, have a daughter, the husband dies suddenly. Ms Clicquot preservers,
and sixty years later, Clicquot bubbly ranks with the finest champagnes produced in
France.” Somewhere the widow is smiling; her Champagne soft and luscious.
Celebrate! Love endures.
